The Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a Business Development Manager to join our Digital Building Business. Based in Sydney, the aim of this role is to ensure Schneider Electric’s suite of transformative digital buildings solutions are specified on key building projects.

This is a chance for a passionate business development professional to demonstrate their success by placing the customers needs first, identifying their goals and business fundamentals and ultimately delivering mutually beneficial commercial outcomes.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Work as a true sales hunter, identifying, generating and following up on leads and creating interest in Schneider’s offerings in the Digital Buildings environment;
  • Achieve growth through solid relationships with prospective clients, gaining detailed understanding of their needs, pain points and strategic direction;
  • Communicate, present and interact with business decision makers, to identify needs and requirements as well as market opportunities;
  • Utilisation of internal resouces ensuring the effective coordination of client meetings, presentation preparation and delivery to all levels of the client's organisation;
  • Guide and move prospects through the project design and sales cycle;
  • Keeping up to date with evolving technology trends and innovation in the built environment;
  • Maintain prospect (CRM) database information.

  • Proven track record of solution selling to industrial and/or commercial clients (minimum five years experience);
  • Sound knowledge of Smart Building Design Methodologies, Digitalization, IoT, Data & Analytics, Cloud, Mechanical & Electrical Systems and Energy Management in the built environment;
  • Understanding of the building and construction landscape and established relationships with consulting engineers, architects, specifiers, developers/building owners and similar which can be leveraged would be advantageous;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and a proven track record of providing exceptional customer service;
  • Persistence to follow up of leads and movement of prospects through the sales cycle;
  • Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail and highly proficient with MS Office;
  • Experience presenting and liaising with senior stakeholders within the C-suite of major local and global companies;
  • Tertiary qualifications in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Controls & Instrumentation (or related discipline).
