Full Stack Developer (node, react)

Start Date: Immediately

Location: Melbourne


We're a startup with plans to make a huge and long-lasting positive impact on health outcomes. We are building a decision support system to radically improve the surgical process to decrease preventable complications such as re-admission and mortality and reduce length of stay.


This is an exciting opportunity to:

Must have:

  • > ~ 3 years professional experience, including time with the relevant tech stack


Responsibilities:

  • New features and improvements based on user feedback
  • Frontend UI based on Preact
  • Backend REST API based on Node.js
  • Ensure the entire application stack is built for speed, scalability and best practices
  • Continuous deployment of the application
  • Integrate external data sources and manage data engineering requirements e.g. integrating hospital EMR data


Experience with:

  • Front-end dev, specifically writing HTML, CSS and JavaScript and up to date with latest practices and standards, specifically HTML5, CSS3 and ECMAScript 6
  • Back-end dev using JavaScript and Node.js
  • Modern front-end and back-end frameworks and tooling, specifically React (Preact a plus) and Express
  • Database design and management, specifically with MySQL
  • Git and Docker


Familiarity with:

  • Server management and environment deployments
  • Cloud computing services e.g. Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Amazon Web Services (AWS)
  • Agile development workflows (e.g. Scrum) and tools (e.g. Trello)


Attitude:

  • Enthusiasm to learn new skills, frameworks and technologies
  • Independent and highly motivated
  • Love of product design and thinking from a user’s perspective
