TRAFFIC ENGINEER

About The Project

The Monash Freeway is in Melbourne’s fast growing south east and outer south-east region and the $761M design and construct project will expand the Monash from eight to 10 lanes slashing nearly ten minutes off the morning peak hour commute and better connect the Monash to Eastlink.

Works include the addition of 36 kilometres of new lanes to the Monash Freeway, upgrading the Beaconsfield interchange with new freeway ramps, the extension and widening of O’Shea Road and the roll out of the Freeway Lane Management System to better manage traffic flows.

Construction commenced in 2020 and is due to be completed in 2022.

Your Opportunity

We are seeking applications from skilled Engineers with a background in traffic engineering at a project wide level of planning, development and review of complex projects.

As Traffic Engineer, you will coordinate and plan traffic management functions to achieve project safety, program and budget objectives. Ensure the safety of the work force and the public with the use of appropriate traffic management controls for the construction of the project that are compliant to the contract and all relevant standards and guidelines.

  • Coordinate and administer construction traffic engineering activities to ensure that it is planned and implemented in accordance with project requirements, plans, designs and specifications.
  • Liaise, plan and coordinate with construction engineers the Worksite Traffic Management requirements.
  • Prepare Worksite Traffic Management Plans for stakeholders’ review and approval including preparation of traffic impact assessments and traffic guidance schemes.
  • Assist and plan for implementation of major traffic set ups.
  • Coordinate and respond to road safety audits as required.
  • Demonstrate excellent people management, verbal and written communication skills to achieve outcomes.


Requirements For This Role Are
  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering, Science, Building Construction or equivalent
  • Diploma of Project Management in Engineering, Science, Building, Construction or equivalent
  • Minimum 2-5 years’ traffic engineering experience
  • Knowledge of construction traffic management requirements, plans, specification, standards and implications for project accountabilities
  • Experience in construction traffic management on minor projects
  • Effective time management skills including sequencing of work of own and resource management
  • Strong written, verbal and presentation skills
