National Jet Systems (NJS) is part of the Qantas group and plays an important role in connecting communities and industries. Our fleet consists of twenty Boeing 717 aircraft, operating regular services to capital cities, regional centres and leisure destinations.

Reporting to the Manager Engineering Operations, this is a unique opportunity to be part of a newly created NJS Maintenance Watch team as a Maintenance Watch Engineer. In this business-critical role, you will be responsible for managing the interface with our contracted CASA Part 145 maintenance providers maintenance to support the daily operation of the NJS fleet of B717s. This will include reporting, assessment, and management of rectification / deferral of defects as necessary to support the operation. Using your proven technical experience, you will operate closely with other engineering departments as well as Operations and Flying operations in order to achieve minimum maintenance related operational delays.

You’ll have –

Experience as a LAME B1 or B2 with a minimum of five years in a Line (desirable) or Base Maintenance environment, or previous experience in a maintenance watch / tech support environment.

Hold a CASA Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineers Licence rated on B717 (desirable) or similar aircraft in the B1/B2 category, or a similar tertiary qualification

Strategic and analytical thinker with proven problem-solving and time management skills, particularly when under pressure

Ability to communicate effectively with all levels within a team

Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, and process compliance

Experience with the management of AOG Recovery of aircraft

Ability to work as part of a team to produce safe, compliant and desirable outcomes on behalf of the business

Ability to adapt with a focus on the ‘big picture’ when it comes to problem solving

High level of computer skills.
