Engineering and Manufacturing Manager required to join a growing and energetic Ballarat based manufacturer.


Your new company

Graintech Engineering designs, manufactures & installs innovative turn-key solutions for the feed, food, grain & seed sectors globally. They service the largest grain and seed companies in both Australia and several other foreign markets in the design, manufacture and installation of custom processing equipment.

This is Achieved through the innovative design and manufacture of their own patented equipment, utilising cutting edge manufacturing technologies, processes and procedures.

Your new role

The Engineering and Manufacturing Manager works closely with the company directors, sales, engineering and production departments to co-ordinate work activities and resources necessary for manufacturing products in accordance with cost and quality; to drive safety; and to identify continuous improvement opportunities.

They are responsible for the day to day manufacturing operations, production planning, as well as the co-ordination and alignment of the organisations engineering and technical operations, prioritising workloads and cost efficiencies.

What you'll need to succeed

  • 5 years experience in a similar role
  • Experience working with Lean Manufacturing processes and principals
  • Sound knowledge of business, management and finance principals
  • Strong project management skills
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • High level systems and software experience (ERP, MS Office)
  • Previous change management experience
  • Excellent business development and people skills
  • Proven conflict resolution abilities
  • Excellent time management skills

Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Provide analysis and insights to support the development and implementation of strategies that drive long term sustainable growth
  • Develop, Execute and Report on the Weekly Production Plan
  • Monitor the quality of the equipment being designed and manufactured in conjunction with
  • Engineering and Factory leaders
  • Audit project workflow and quality controls
  • Drive project reviews within 2 weeks of commissioning completion and handover to client for sharing of best practices and continuous improvement
  • Highlight any potential key risks (production, WHS, legislative etc.) and contribute to mitigation measures
  • Align production planning with state-of-the art effective, efficient and compliant resource planning and adjust organisation design/capability accordingly.
  • Support the implementation of an ERP system that is capable of meeting the requirements of the business, in particular with respect to Inventory and Costing of our projects
  • Oversee the Product Development Process via use of Engineering Systems i.e. Solidworks
  • Ensure SOP/documentation for key processes are in place, maintained, understood and followed at all times to protect corporate memory.
  • Ensure ongoing optimisation of business systems, processes and procedures to support the timely and accurate distribution of information to key stakeholders including.
  • Oversee and report on the inventory management process incl. supplier performance (purchased parts meet the quality and quantitative needs at all times) and build and maintain relationships accordingly
  • Followed direction provided by owners/management and be an active part of the company’s Leadership team.
  • Build a high achieving team through confident use of all people management processes and tools.
  • Positively represent, contribute to and manage the company’s values/behaviours with both internal and external stakeholders.
