About The Role:
One Rail Australia is seeking an experienced and team orientated Work Health and Safety professional to support the Company in the provision of effective Workplace Health Safety and Environment Management relative to the organisation's operations throughout Australia.

About You:
You will have in depth experience across Rail, Mining or Energy sectors with extensive heavy Industry experience leading WHS teams over multi-site and multi-jurisdictional responsibilities. You will be safety focused, action orientated, have an in depth knowledge of National 'harmonised' WH&S legislation and sound knowledge of environmental legislation and WH&S legislation is essential.

Additionally, you will have:

  • Demonstrated ability to develop, implement and monitor safety and environmental systems and processes within the context of an integrated management system.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and driving initiatives and complex programs at various levels within a similar sized organisation.
  • Demonstrated skill and extensive experience as an auditor (systems compliance) and incident investigator - preferably at lead auditor/investigator level.
  • 15+ years of experience in Rail, Mining or Energy sectors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement and monitor the organization's Strategic and Management WHSE Plans ensuring effective WHSE governance.
  • Integrate systems and processes relative to WHSE Management that satisfy the organisation's legislative obligations throughout Australia and reflect industry best practice and continuous improvement.
  • Conduct high level incident investigations including the development of treatment and provide assistance and guidance to other staff involved in the investigation of WHSE incidents.
  • Develop, implement and drive organisational initiatives for improving safety performance with the aid of the infield safety coordinators.
  • Facilitate and coordinate the development and maintenance of task analysis, risk assessments, safe work plans and other activities in conjunction with the infield safety coordinators, line managers and supervisory staff relative to WHSE management.
  • Conduct high level analysis of the business events and recommend improvement opportunities to senior management.
  • Manage the development of Emergency Response Plans at an organisational and local level.
  • Develop, manage, and monitor remediation plans in response to identified material risks in the business.
  • Represent the organisation during third party audits conducted by clients or other agencies.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in Occupational Health and Safety Management or Environmental Management.
  • Masters in OHS with other discipline (desirable).
