Cloud Application Engineer
Position Location - Melbourne, Adelaide, or Perth
Reports To Application & Infrastructure Manager

Purpose Deliver Automated Public and Private Cloud Web Application Infrastructure & Release Pipelines
Supporting Teams/Personnel Development, Projects, and Central Services

Responsibilities
Customer

  • Build and deploy web applications for cloud and managed services customers.
  • Act as a technical subject matter expert for automation of the build and deployment
  • Act as a technical subject matter expert for integration of customer application environments with software release pipelines
  • Contribute as a technical resource on customer projects.

Internal

  • Use deployment strategies that support Agile development processes.
  • Deliver automated solutions for operational maintenance of the customer application environments including patch management and security
  • Work with development teams to optimise application delivery and provide input towards requirements on non-functional and integration elements of Civica applications/solutions.

Attributes

  • Previous experience in a public and private cloud application engineering role (preferably within a software development organisation).
  • Experience configuring and optimising cloud web application platforms, particularly CloudFront, Netscalers, Azure, Microsoft Windows Server, IIS and SQL Server.as well as Linux and Redis servers
  • Manage and support common network services required to deliver applications, e.g. DNS, SSL/TLS, SMTP, Load Balancing, Proxy, Firewalls.
  • Experience using performance and security monitoring tools, e.g. Nagios, PRTG, Splunk, Syslog, AppDynamics
  • Experience using deployment and configuration management software, e.g. Terraform, Puppet, Ansible, Chocolatey and Bolt
  • Experience with private (e.g. VMware) and public (e.g. Azure) cloud services.
  • The ability to perform Microsoft SQL Server build and deploy tasks including clustering.
  • Experience using version control software, such as Subversion, Git.
  • Work following structured project management delivery processes.
  • Excellent communications skills – inter-team and customer interactions.
  • An understanding of integration and authentication technologies, e.g. REST APIs, Identity & Access Management, Active Directory, ADFS and SIF (Education).
  • An understanding of how to build secure customer web application environments with security built in to each deployment and release

Additional Requirements

  • National Police Clearance.
  • State based Working with Children Check (as required by customers).
  • Data management in compliance with Australian Privacy laws and ISO 27001 practices.
