About the Role... 

We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Land Development Engineer to join our Engineering Services team. 

Are you ready to make your mark in the fastest growing Council in South Australia?

Working on some of the largest and most complex engineering projects within Local Government like Buckland Park Riverlea development, Playford Alive, The Entrance, Miravale to name a few. This role will provide technical expertise in the assessment, detail design review and quality control of the civil engineering component of land development, whilst applying project management functions and best practice principles to deliver a sustainable and liveable community for City of Playford. 

Key accountabilities:

  • Facilitate negotiations with developers through pre-lodgement, assessment and construction for the delivery of appropriate infrastructure.
  • Deliver technical assessment of land developments in accordance with legislative requirements, relevant standards, guidelines, approved plans and Council’s strategic plans.
  • Assess engineering design documentation for the delivery of land divisions in accordance with the council's development plan.
  • Oversee the construction of new land developments and associated infrastructure, facilitating construction and asset handover in accordance with Council Standards, Australian Standards and approved plans.
  • Provide civil engineering advice to Managers, Council and staff on all matters pertaining to civil engineering construction and land development design.
  • Represent council at construction inspections as required, including hold points essential to the delivery of land development projects.
  • Update and maintain specifications, guidelines, systems and processes to comply with all relevant standards, legislation and best practices.

About You...

The successful applicant will be tertiary qualified holding a Degree in Civil Engineering together with significant demonstrated experience in civil design and construction.

In addition, you will have:

  • In depth knowledge of civil engineering practices, techniques, principles and legislative requirements including but not limited to road construction, drainage construction and a variety of concrete construction and the ability to apply these to local government.
  • Working knowledge of traffic and transport requirements for land development/division projects.
  • Demonstrated experience in hydrological and hydraulic design and analysis of stormwater drainage.
  • Demonstrated understanding of landscape requirements associated with land development/divisions projects.
  • Demonstrated understanding of relevant Australian Standards, Planning Development and Infrastructure Act, codes of practice and guidelines.
  • High level competencies in managing and supervising diverse groups of consultants and contractors, with an emphasis on the ability to deliver work to a specified timeframe and safely.
  • Demonstrated project management experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in the use of DRAINS, AutoCAD, Auto Turn and Microsoft software and knowledge of MUSIC software.
