About The Role

The Perth Mint is looking for an experienced Electrician to join their engineering department on a full-time permanent basis. The successful candidate will assist with maintaining the safe and efficient running of all plant, equipment and buildings on The Perth Mint site, whilst adhering to the legislative and organisation OHS&E requirements.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair electrical issues using advanced problem-solving techniques and strong technical expertise.
  • Provide preventative electrical maintenance on varies types of minting equipment.
  • Inspect circuit breakers and other electrical components.
  • Good knowledge of commercial tagging and testing methods.
  • Complete a Safety Take 5 for each task undertaken and JSA as required.
  • Implement a program of continual process improvement.
  • Comply fully with all relevant company, national and state policies, codes of practice, regulations and laws.
  • Ensure own safety and health at work and avoid adversely affecting the safety or health of any other person through any act or omission at work.
  • Assist in the design and building of electrical control systems.
  • Inputs data in the computerised maintenance management system. (MEX)
  • Work on a rotating shift for afternoon and Saturday for production cover.

The successful candidate is required to have the following:

  • Recognised Australian Trade Certificate as an Electrician and a Current Western Australian A-Grade Electrical Licence
  • Demonstrated experience in commercial, industrial and domestic electrical installation techniques,
  • Demonstrated experience performing RCD testing, electrical testing and tagging.
  • Current first aid certificate
  • Attention to detail, excellent time management and organisational skills
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety principles and ability to follow safe working procedures at all times.
  • Able to cope with physical demands of the job
  • Able to pass a security clearance as well as a pre-employment medical with drug and alcohol screening
