  • X2 Permanent full time positions
  • Locations: x1 Blacktown + X1 Sydney CBD
  • RC Grade 6 ($127,559 – $141,442 plus Super, Allowances & Overtime)

THE OPPORTUNITY

We have 2 exciting opportunity for experienced Senior Track Engineers to become a part of our Network Maintenance Division within Sydney Trains. These positions are responsible for providing a high level of engineering and technical advice and support to the Regional Engineer Track, ensuring the technical integrity of track assets; compliance to engineering standards associated with the Track discipline. Also, evaluating track asset condition reports to inspection data to ensure all major risks identified are managed in a timely manner and have effective controls in place for the safe operation of rail traffic.

Key responsibilities for this role are, but not limited to:-
  • Providing specialist track engineering support, quality assurance and compliance assurance of routine maintenance delivery within a geographical region for all track related assets to ensure compliance to the relevant standards, procedures, engineering instructions and safety systems
  • Liaise with various stakeholders, providing track maintenance advice
  • Conducting technical field quality inspections of maintenance activities and providing technical advice to track maintenance staff on corrective actions
  • Investigating and reporting on major incidents and track equipment failures
  • Managing and monitoring systems and databases

Selection Criteria:-
  • Tertiary qualifications (degree) in Civil Engineering or related disciple or equivalent substantial experience
  • Proven experience in Rail Track asset management, maintenance, construction and commissioning works in an operational environment
  • Demonstrated research, analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to apply them in a multidisciplinary environment
  • Be able to demonstrate a high level of understanding of maintenance engineering principles and their application to maintenance and operations, including an understanding of relevant legislation, standards and codes of practice
  • Proven knowledge of asset management and maintenance planning
  • Proven successful delivery of innovation projects and improvement initiatives
  • Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, negotiation skills, influencing skills and be able to use systems including maintenance management systems, work processing and spreadsheet programs, e-mail and communications
  • Hold a current NSW Class C driver’s licence and be comfortable driving a 4WD/UTE type of vehicle
