About Us

The Inland Rail Program is a 1700km rail infrastructure project stretching from Brisbane to Melbourne incorporating new and existing rail track. The program includes the upgrading of existing standard gauge track, the enhancement of existing standard gauge track to cater for double stacking and the construction of new standard gauge links comprising of viaducts, tunnels, rail track, crossings and bridges. About The Position

The Inland Rail Program consists of Rail Systems requirements to be delivered program wide. These are categorised into three main phases each consisting of several sites and areas. They are described below:
  • Design/ pre-construction
  • Construction, commissioning and handover of day one safeworking
  • Facilitation and integration of the delivery of ATMS
The Project Engineer Signalling assists the Project Managers in the delivery of the Inland Rail Program and nominated projects to be delivered within scheduled timeframes, within budget and in a safe manner

Key accountabilities for the role are, and not limited to:
  • Providing reports to the Project Manager Signalling on resources, plant and equipment requirements for components of the nominated Inland Rail projects
  • Ensuring quality and technical requirements are met for signalling design, construction and commissioning program wide
  • Ensuring safety policies and procedures are complied with
  • Ensuring detailed project programs and plans are provided on a regular basis to the Project Manager Signalling
  • Participating in project delivery and undertake other duties as requested
  • Ensuring compliance with ARTC’s Safety Management System (SMS) and Environmental Management System (EMS) requirements, responsibilities, authorities and accountabilities
  • Promoting a safety culture within the team to conform with current Work Health and Safety (WH&S) and relevant Rail Safety legislation
About You

To ensure your success in this position, you will be able to demonstrate:-
  • Degree qualifications in Engineering or equivalent
  • Eligibility for membership of the Institute of Engineers Australia (CPEng or RPEQ)
  • Experience in engineering maintenance, construction or project management of track, civil, structures and/or signalling within complex infrastructure projects
  • Skills in the engineering principles of planning, reporting and scheduling
  • Knowledge of, or an awareness of, work health and safety principles and relevant rail safety legislation
  • Ability to work in an organised, well ordered manner
  • Highly developed problem resolution and interpersonal skills together with commercial acumen
  • Experience in tendering and negotiation of contracts of varying complexities will be highly regarded
  • Knowledge of Australian Standards for track infrastructure including the railway National Code of Practice is highly desirable
