About the Role

We require a confident and results-driven Building Surveying professional to manage our building surveying operations whilst delivering for our clients. Duties for the Surveyor will include managing existing clients, evaluating and managing risk, ensuring compliance with regulations, coordinating audit processes, overseeing operations, monitoring projects and the whole building surveying process.

The Person

You will be a Building Surveying specialist, capable of working with a team or autonomously to produce local, national, deliverables to employer & clients' standards. As a professional and approachable Building Surveyor you will:

  • Take ownership of Building Surveying projects, organise required inputs and closely monitor progress
  • Have an ability to work independently on multiple projects with deadlines.
  • Be responsible for the assessment of a range of building permit applications.
  • Be responsible for site visits, inspections and reporting as required.
  • Attend design meetings as directed.
  • Have experience generating reports, management and reporting deliverables
  • Assist Managers/Directors in developing and managing practice policy and procedures.
  • Work within a project team environment relating effectively with other team members
  • Provide support for administration staff with the following matters when they are absent or occupied, answer telephones, screen calls, take messages and expedite delivery of messages to Directors and Staff.
  • Communicate design solutions in graphic and written media.
  • Undertake status reports for clients and government departments.
  • Be responsible for managing and updating of critical project files & ensuring appropriate workflow in the office
  • Provide clear communication for internal stakeholders and business decision-makers
  • Manage projects within a strategic Risk Management framework.
  • Identify client needs and develop and articulate a project brief.
  • Demonstrated ability to control difficult applications.
  • Sound understanding of the statutory framework within which buildings are designed.

What makes you a successful candidate?

  • Tertiary qualifications in Building Surveying.
  • Accreditation as a Building Surveyor.
  • Working knowledge of building surveying fundamentals
  • 5+ years of Building Surveying related work experience
  • Experience in strategic analysis & planning and execution, performance metrics, project evaluation and commercial acumen
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to simplify complex situations and communicate and present complex information
  • Insightful, pro-active, collaborative and consultative
  • Additional qualification or experiences in a related discipline that would support the strategic imperatives would be an advantage
  • Knowledge of/previous interaction with customers
  • Relocation costs are negotiable
