This role:

You will work alongside Technology Stakeholders such as the Enterprise Application Technical Leads, Solution Architects, Enterprise Project Management Office, Chief Information & Strategy Officer, Business Owners, and partners, to facilitate architectural discussion, define and produce detailed architecture designs for implementation. You will support the strategic digital transformation initiatives, assisting in the design and implementation of technical plans, maintaining the current state of the technology ecosystem, and developing future state architectural needs to meet an efficient, secure and agile organisation. The role will drive common approaches and governance across the enterprise digital information assets and support the evaluation of new and emerging technologies and tools. You will provide context and support to help teams collaborate, build better flexibility, agility and autonomy in decision making to enable faster speed to market.

The role requires an excellent understanding of Digital enabling technologies and transformation, including Microsoft Azure, Dynamics Finance and Operations (formerly AX), Dynamics CE, Power Platform, and other technology stacks such as Sitecore and Adobe Martech.


This role will deliver contemporary architecture that enables continuous change at speed and will support the function by designing, developing, and communicating architectural models, processes, tools, and standards as they relate to the enterprise digital applications at RSL.

** This position is a 12 month fixed contract with a strong potential to extend or move to permanent **

  • Develop current and target architectures that support delivery roadmap timeframes and ensures the most effective use of technology and digital services across RSL whilst delivering the required business outcomes.
  • Accountable for developing, maintaining and communicating the enterprise application architecture documentation, strategic roadmaps and plans, aligned with business strategy.
  • Builds trusted relationships with business and IT leaders to provide technology direction in support of the RSL enterprise applications and business strategy.
  • Be a key contributor to the technology team, and ensure strong partnerships across the functions (development, delivery, infrastructure, security, operations and support).
  • Develop the organisation’s Enterprise Architecture strategies, processes, and methodologies, including lean and rightsized Enterprise Architecture principles, governance, standards and processes based off industry standards.
  • Be accountable for enterprise architecture and broader solution architecture and integration of RSL’s internal and vendor-based IT solutions, working with colleagues from across the business who have a strong focus and interest in technology.
  • Take a lead role in the full life cycle delivery of the technical solutions for business projects from initial concept, requirements gathering, specification, design, delivery, acceptance, and into operational support.
  • Act as design authority and provide an assurance role, ensuring that all architecture activities and deliverables (in-house and external) are produced to a high quality and are consistent with existing standards, policies, and practices.
  • Pragmatic solution skills that can adjust the solution approach to business needs.
  • Participate in the analysis, evaluation, and development of the organisation’s long-term strategic and operating plans to ensure the Enterprise Architecture is aligned to the agreed strategic direction.
  • Ensures that RSL’s enterprise architecture is coordinated and aligned with the industry architectures and strategies and those developed by other areas of IT such as Security, Operations etc.
  • Ensures RSL’s enterprise applications architecture remains compliant with relevant regulatory, legal and data protection standards.
  • In collaboration with technology leads, sets the Enterprise Architecture direction for IT projects and initiatives during opportunity and pre-project phases.
  • Provides Enterprise architecture oversight governance to IT projects, initiatives, and the assigned Solution Architect(s) during planning, execution, and implementation phases.

What we’re looking for:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, system analysis or a related field of study; a Masters would be highly desirable 
  • At least 5 years experience in a similar role
  • 5+ years’ experience within Digital delivery environments such as mobile, web, marketing, social, CRM
  • Practical Enterprise Application/ Solution Architecture experience, certified with a recognised EA framework, e.g. TOGAF
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure, Dynamics F&O, Dynamics CE, Power Platform, and Sharepoint products
  • Knowledge of Web Content Management (WCM) including Content Management Systems (CMS) such as Sitecore / Digital Experience Platforms (DXP), Adobe Campaign and Experience Manager and their associated architectures, integration platforms, and patterns
  • Experience with enterprise Digital transformations
  • Ability to work through ambiguity in a complex and fast-paced environment to deliver tangible and timely results in a collaborative way
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities, applying structured analytical and problem solving and thinking
  • The ability to plan, manage and be accountable for own workload to meet agreed deadlines
  • Excellent understanding of application development methodologies, infrastructure, and network architecture
  • Good understanding of product management, agile principles, and development methodologies 
  • Capability for supporting agile teams by providing advice and guidance on opportunities, impact, and risks, taking account of technical and architectural debt
