About you

Arup have a fantastic opportunity for a talented Civils Drafter/ Technician to join our Civils Design Team in In Adelaide. Arup have a proven track record of successfully winning and delivering some of the state’s largest and most interesting infrastructure projects. You are a goal focussed technician with the ability to self-manage and deliver results in a dynamic, demanding and fast paced environment. You will be a motivated, positive, quality focussed team player with the ability to hold your own and support others when required to meet deadlines. You will be looking to be involved in, and actively contribute to, a range of exciting and varied projects.

If you are looking for the opportunity to apply your AutoCAD, 12D and Civil 3D skills and can demonstrate a working knowledge of DIT and other relevant drawing standards, translating creative, innovative professional design works into detailed design drafts and documentation for a range of roads, drainage, water, sewer and WSUD projects this may well be the opportunity for you!

Profile for success
  • Recognised relevant tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering or Drafting
  • Proven relevant industry experience in drafting, modelling and design with an emphasis on roads, drainage, water, sewer and WSUD projects.
  • Experience the software packages including AutoCAD and Bentley Projectwise. Also, an understanding of Microstation, Navisworks and Revizto would be beneficial.
  • Experience in the operation of software documentation tools including AutoCAD and/or Microstation would be advantageous.
  • Experience using various software platforms such as 12D or computer coding such as Python or parametric modelling packages such as Grasshopper, Dynamo or Rhino would be advantageous.

About the role
Joining the Civil Design team, you will enhance the teams’ portfolio of skills and undertake drafting, design and consulting services for a variety of innovative civil infrastructure design projects. Your remit will encompass:
  • Preparation of detailed design drafts and documentation for a range of roads, drainage, water, sewer and WSUD projects.
  • Using a combination of standard and modified and Drafting methods/techniques, your problem solving and out of the box thinking will solve complex projects.
  • Drawing on your high attention to detail you will ensure that the technical and quality requirements of the drawings are achieved and that design quality procedures are applied.
  • Tapping into your commercial awareness and contractual acumen you will ensure that you have the capability to understand terms and conditions within contracts and work within set parameters.
  • You will be able to work both independently and within project teams on set tasks and will be responsible for your own time management and for ensuring the quality and accuracy of your work through self-checking processes.
  • Willing to share your expertise, ideas and knowledge you will contribute to the building of drafting best practice and capability within the team and in wider multi-disciplinary groups.
