Since 1973, the Australian-owned EGR group has grown to become a market innovator and leader in automotive accessory manufacturing. Our automotive accessory products are dominant in the domestic and overseas market, including a variety of products such as bullbars, side steps, canopies, tonneaus, and body kits, manufactured via means of thermoforming, injection moulding, reaction injection moulding, blow mould and pressed metal technologies. We are currently building our team in the US are looking for an experienced Automotive Engineer to join us.

About The Position:

This position is based in our Brisbane office, Australia. This role will have responsibility for project managing new products from conception to production, including testing, material and process analysis, product engineering, design and specification, tooling design, costing development and automotive OEM PPAP documentation.

On a daily basis you will be required to work closely with various stakeholders across the business, including CAD designers, toolmakers, production staff, sales staff, senior management and QA. Alongside this, you'll also liaise with sub-contractors, customers and international suppliers.

About you:

To be considered for these positions, you must demonstrate the following:

  • Experience in working within the automotive sector or similar.
  • Knowledge in automotive accessory development.
  • Exposure to managing new product projects from conception to production, including material and product engineering, design and specification, tooling design & budget control
  • Tertiary qualification in Project Engineering/ Industrial Design / Mechanical Engineering.
  • A minimum of 4 years experience in new product development, with exposure to Engineering Design in a manufacturing environment.
  • Understanding the requirements of PPAP and APQP.

Further to the above, the following skills and experience are highly regarded:

  • Understanding of plastic manufacturing processes in core technologies (thermoforming, injection moulding, RIM moulding and blow moulding).
  • Understanding metal product manufacturing techniques such as fabrication, pressing, casting and forging.
  • Understanding of electrical/electronics.
