Hycast is one of the few investment casting companies in Australia. We offer the full range of technical skills necessary to ensure precise investment castings from design through to utilization. We provide products and services to national and international clients all over the world. 

We are looking to expand our team to include a highly skilled and qualified Chemical Engineer with a minimum of three years’ experience.

This position includes but not limited to:

  • Designing, defining, and evaluating process specifications for current and proto production processes.

  • Monitoring and supervising the manufacturing operations on the shop floor.

  • Troubleshooting problems in manufacturing operations and performing root cause analysis. Suggesting corrective and preventative actions.

  • Analysing and evaluating the operational data for cost reduction and process improvement activities.

  • Supervising the laboratory activities for analysing chemical properties of investment casting slurries, passivation solutions and metal compositions. 

  • Determining and implementing the changes related to usage and control of new materials.

  • Running solidification simulations to support process design studies. 

  • Working on product and process development projects.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering. Candidates holding or enrolled in a Master Degree or higher is preferable.

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in the industrial and manufacturing environment. Minimum 1 year experience in investment casting business.

  • Demonstrated knowledge in lost-wax investment casting processes. Previous working experience in colloidal dip coating slurries.

  • Demonstrated knowledge in additive manufacturing. Design experience in 3D printing of wax and plastic parts.

  • Solid knowledge in laboratory measurement methods. Experience in atomic emission spectroscopy. Hands-on experience in ARL 3460.

  • An ability of data-driven decision making. Previous experience in statistical process control tools and MS Excel. Experience in MS Access and SQL databases is a plus.

  • Full competency in handling 3D data and running solidification simulations. Hands-on experience in SolidWorks, SolidCAST and FlowCAST.

  • Strong communication skills when working with all stakeholders in the business.

  • Proven track record of involvement in teams to deliver national/international projects. 

  • A strong commitment to completing projects and good time management skills.

  • Full work rights in Australia.
