About the Role:

As we continue to grow, there is an exciting opportunity to join the NPE team in our Welshpool branch. As a key member of the team, you will primarily be responsible for the preparation of tenders and quotations by estimating costs, gathering information from tender documentation, SOWs, specifications, and other related documents. The Estimator will also be responsible for reviewing engineering and design drawings prior to them being issued for construction. 

Key Responsibilities of the role:

  • Provide expert estimating advice to the business unit and assist with compiling major tenders, proposals, and expressions of interest on behalf of the division.
  • Receive, interrogate, and disseminate tender opportunities from various sources including direct contact, existing clients, tender portals, and web enquiries
  • Develop and maintain a data base of opportunities to track progress and status of tenders and quotations in hand.
  • Analyse selected opportunities for suitability to proceed by evaluating risk, reward and deliverability and circulating internal approval documentation following established protocols and authorisation limits.
  • Establish and maintain file repository for tender documentation
  • Attend site visits as required to investigate scopes of work and gain understanding of tender requirements. 
  • Analyse qualitative and quantitative data for inclusion in tenders, including obtaining relevant information/data, calculating costing, and providing advice and information.
  • Develop estimate models, calculate costings, and peer proposals for submissions.
  • Seek, coordinate, and assemble supporting documentation including Schedules, Quality Assurance, OHS and Construction Management
  • Other duties as directed by your Manager.

Key Competencies:

Candidates must live in and have the right to work in Australia to be considered for the role.

Essential:

  • Current C class Driver’s License,
  • Previous experience in Project Estimating,
  • Experienced with estimating software (preferably Expert Estimator);
  • Proficient in MS Project;
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings to compile BOM’s and pricing schedules
  • Basic understanding of contracts law;
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to effectively liaise with relevant stakeholders.
  • Ability to adapt to a changing work environment and remain solutions-focussed with a strong attention to detail.

Desirable:

  • Experience of dewatering systems (and associated equipment within mining)
  • An understanding and knowledge of bore hole operations and equipment, electrical / minor civil works; HDPE Piping and fittings; Electrical requirements for cabling, starters, and panels; Electric motor/pump operational requirements
