As Director Traffic Engineering, you will build an expanded perspective of the transport user, apply an holistic view of road safety, active transport and accessibility, and as an influencer of change, create a future-focused Traffic Engineering Unit that delivers benefit to all users of the network. Infrastructure investment, design, technology, innovation, stakeholder engagement and national representation / advocacy will be critical to your success.

As the leader of the Traffic Engineering Unit, you will further develop a team culture focused on inclusive design for all road users, and collaboration with industry, TMR, community and beyond to deliver a progressive approach to traffic engineering. You will ensure alignment to TMR's transformational journey including client centric orientation, meeting of team and personal accountability expectations, and modelling standards of professional behaviour.

As Director Traffic Engineering, your key leadership deliverables are both strategic and business as usual. You will build an expanded perspective of the transport user, apply an holistic view of road safety, active transport and accessibility, and as an influencer of change, create a future-focused Traffic Engineering Unit that delivers benefit to all users of the network. Infrastructure investment, design, technology, innovation, stakeholder engagement and national representation / advocacy will be critical to your success.

This important leadership role within Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) will provide expert advisory to the Districts / Regions and a customer-centric responsiveness to key issues and collaborative assurances. Pragmatic design guidance and solutions with an understanding of the fiscal environment is vital. You will ensure oversight of governance and technical peer reviews, maintain technical standards, embed new frameworks and contribute to product type approvals to achieve contemporaneous industry practice an alignment to a consistent, national approach.

With a demonstrated history of leading teams to meet corporate service delivery expectations, highly skilled engineers with a breadth of traffic engineering knowledge and experience across public and / or private organisations in active transport, road safety, vulnerable road users, traffic planning and management, are invited to apply.

Bachelor of Engineering (or equivalent) and RPEQ Registration as a Professional Engineer (or ability to obtain registration) are mandatory. Fellow of Engineers Australia and post graduate qualifications are highly desirable.
