About Your Role
 

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Platform Engineering Lead to join the Armidale Class Patrol Boat (ACPB) program in Darwin NT. In this role you will use your extensive technical and project management knowledge to lead a team to design, develop, integrate and test engineering systems (preferred electrical and electronic) for the platform.

Under the functional guidance of the Engineering and Data Manager you will lead the Platform Engineering team to develop and deliver Engineering Changes in accordance with the Thales Engineering Management System.

You will also look to develop the skills and experience to satisfy the requirements for becoming a Design Authority Signatory (“Designer”) for Engineering tasks.

Specifically you will be responsible for:

  • Providing engineering and project guidance to your team

  • Conducting risk assessments and ensuring risks are correctly identified and management

  • Planning operations and or processes required to complete allocated design tasks, including estimation of requirements of staffing, material costs and quantities.

  • Adhering to Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental legislative requirements, policies, procedures and framework as well as serving as a role model to all employees

  • Understand technical, commercial and legal implications of actions and respond accordingly

  • Ensuring knowledge of quality concepts, standards, systems and programs and their importance to the organisations success

  • Managing customer/stakeholder relationships to ensure responsibilities and accountabilities are achieved

  • Working towards the attainment of Chartered status of IEAust.

How About You?

  • Appropriate tertiary qualifications in Engineering (preferred Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics) admitting to membership of a professional institution.

  • Previous experience in the design and integration of engineering systems

  • Desired Experience in Navy or platform systems or commercial marine platform systems

  • Strong people skills and a proven ability to communicate in a positive manner with internal and external customers

  • Ability to successfully work with people at all levels of an organisation including as part of a team

  • Experience managing Technical teams for performance and quality outcomes
