This is a unique opportunity to join the Water Group at the Department of Planning, Industry and Environment as a Senior Water & Waste Water Engineer. Use your expertise to review proposal documents from local councils and provide technical advice on suitability of projects.

About the role

The Senior Water & Waste Water Engineer makes assessment of the technical aspects of water, sewage and recycled water treatment plants for regulatory approval. The role assists in the delivery of technical content of training programs for LWUs and peak industry groups in LWU operation.

You will assess and analyse planning and design documentation presented by local water utilities, as well as assess applications for proposed water, sewage and recycled water treatment plants under Section 60 of the Local Government Act 1993. Providing advice and expertise to clients and colleagues and developing and delivering technical content through training programs.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Experience and extensive technical knowledge in water and sewerage
  • Ability to identify process improvements to enhance effectiveness
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and balance competing demands and priorities
  • Strong collaboration and influencing skills as you consult and negotiate with diverse stakeholders
