You will provide high level engineering advice and support to the Signal Maintenance Manager and Team Leaders to maintain the technical integrity of the assets and compliance to standards. You will:

  • Coordinate the delivery of specialist maintenance services across the District to facilitate the delivery of planned maintenance and project outcomes and business unit goals
  • Provide technical engineering supervision of Routine Maintenance and Renewals works on the signalling network to ensure the work is completed according to plan and meets technical and quality standards
  • Identify and problem solve issues associated with coordinating and managing maintenance work
  • Liaise with the Signal Maintenance Manager and assist them to plan maintenance priorities and programs, address reliability issues, develop maintenance strategies, manage issues, systems integrity and risk
  • Manage external suppliers to ensure delivery of contracted services in accordance with the scope of works and agreed technical and quality standards
  • Leading role as primary point of contact with external signalling suppliers
  • Coordinate training and develop and deliver briefing sessions for staff in new technologies, equipment and work methods, to ensure the technical competence of the workforce to operate effectively is maintained
  • Exercise Engineering Authorities in accordance with the Certificate of Competency and implement actions arising from Engineering instructions issued by the Head of Signals
  • Identify, acquire and coordinate appropriate human, plant and equipment requirements to ensure maintenance works resourced to meet business requirements, including possessions
  • Manage various databases and registers such as, signalling cable insulation testing, temporary wiring register, temporary bonds and relay change out program to ensure the integrity of the signalling network and to maintain the condition of the asset

About you:

  • Tertiary qualifications (degree or Diploma) in a relevant discipline (Electrical/Electronic) or recognised industry experience
  • Diploma or similar qualifications or extensive experience in Rail Signalling
  • Demonstrated experience rail signalling systems
  • Knowledge of design processes, asset and maintenance systems applied to Rail Signalling
  • Capacity to deal with complex technical problems to work towards solutions
  • Ability to communicate effectively with people from all organisational levels
  • Ability to understand technically complex systems
  • Must possess a current, valid Drivers Licence
