You will be joining a newly established team of highly skilled architects who provide best practices, standards, patterns and design and implementation across multiple cloud platforms. You will work with other key technology areas (engineering, infrastructure & domain architecture) to assist with the assessment of new technologies through hypotheses lead experiments and enable faster delivery through standardisation and codification of design patterns.

We are looking for candidates with a passion and aptitude for emerging technologies who can apply a customer centric lens to deliver self service capabilities that will enable engineers to focus on business logic and not the underlying infrastructure.

This role within in the Architecture labs team will be:

  • Researching emerging technologies and making recommendation on adoption;
  • Designing and executing experiments to inform our technology choices;
  • Defining and building the services required to support technology experiments;
  • Building and sharing a knowledge base of experiments and their outcomes;
  • Maintaining pipelines for publishing architecture artefacts;
  • Maintaining a tool to enable the correct selection and use technologies (tech choices application);

About You

The ideal candidate will work part time (24 hours per week) and will have some previous experience as an analyst, software engineer or support engineer. You enjoy developing new skills, so that you can make meaningful contributions to architecture decisions around systems and applications in the cloud.

Additionally, you will possess:

  • Good written and oral communication skills;
  • Ability to think logically and analytically, to pose and test hypotheses;
  • Demonstration of collaboration and idea implementation;
  • A passion for continuous learning to grow personal and technical skills;
  • Industry experience in an analyst or engineering role.
  • Familiarisation and exposure to or willingness to learn Distributed systems concepts e.g. microservices architecture, event driven architecture, cloud technologies; modern data technologies.
  • Willingness to arrive every day with an open mind and passionate outlook, your ability to have fun, step outside of your comfort zone and be part of NAB’s journey to become a top-notch engineering organisation;
  • An interest and empathy in the needs of others to understand the problems that need to be solved.
