About The Team

The Infrastructure and Place division is charged with the delivery of an ambitious and once-in-a generation $50 billion program of public infrastructure works. We are developing and delivering smart, integrated and sustainable infrastructure and places that are valued by our customers and communities.

The opportunity

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Project Engineer to support the Sydways project management team in the delivery and management of several major road and bridge projects currently in the delivery readiness stage (Detailed design, Property Acquisition, Procurement).

There are both full time permanent and fixed term opportunities available.

Key Accountabilities

  • Provide engineering support including detailed design and constructability reviews to ensure that design deliverables are met
  • Provide procurement support including development of tender documents, approvals and contract administration
  • Deliver all technical tasks to comply with quality, safety and project management/engineering procedures and controls to enable completion on time and within scope
  • Engaging with key project stakeholders and relevant authorities in order to achieve required project outcomes
  • Providing timely and accurate reporting and analysis of project works

Key Challenges
  • Ability to work with multiple stakeholders and manage completing priorities
  • Seeking advice from internal and external experts to build on technical and other skills as well as resolve or negotiate issues within the constraints
  • Developing procurement and contract management skills to successfully tender and administer multiple contracts
  • Assisting to manage and help develop solutions for design issues
  • Reporting on project status - time, cost, scope etc.


About You

We are after a Project Support Engineer who is looking to further develop their skills across the entire project lifecycle while thriving in an environment of constantly competing priorities and managing these priorities to enable completion of projects while delivering day to day tasks in the required timeframes. Essentially, you don’t shy away from doing hard work and are always available to support your peers. Some background in government will serve you well to understand our complex environment and customer focus, however this isn’t essential. Most importantly, you are a team player who is able to communicate effectively with stakeholders to approach various challenges as they arise.

Essential

requirements:
  • Engineering, Building or Construction degree or equivalent
  • Good communication skills
  • Previous design management or contract management skills highly regarded

Salary And Benefits

The salary for this position is Engineer L1-2 ($94,184 - $124,862) per annum plus superannuation.
