Senior Sales Engineer - Australia and New Zealand

The Senior Sales Engineer supports our sellers, partners and account managers by providing technical solution support throughout the sales process. This includes initial sales engagements, running proof-of-concept projects, educating the channel, and evangelising Fastly products in the market.

You’ll be engaging with some of the most innovative companies in Australia, helping them deliver secure, fast and scalable solutions on a modern, real-time, expanding delivery platform.

Fastly Sales Engineers collect and identify requirements, develop provable solutions, and help both new and existing customers realise the value of Fastly. Addressing any technical objections, Fastly Sales Engineers bring expertise and a consultative approach to every engagement. The successful candidate will have a strong desire to simplify legacy customer infrastructure to resolve speed, visibility and release process issues.

With an amazing opportunity to grow the business in Australia, you’ll be delivering compelling demonstrations, solving application security problems and making the web a safer and faster place. This role supports Australian and New Zealand opportunities, reporting to the APAC Sales Engineering manager who is based in Sydney, Australia.

What You'll Do

  • Identifies strategic customer use cases and recommends solutions.
  • Supports a team of senior sellers throughout the opportunity lifecycle, this includes technical qualification, demonstrations, and proof of concepts to close.
  • Capable of scoping requirements then developing and customizing demos that address a customers business case and presenting them to customers.
  • Provide product capability positioning, including differentiators with our competitor’s products and services.
  • Contribute to the success of the APAC region by participating in team, product and whole of company events.
  • A self starter who can be responsible for and run multiple concurrent high visibility projects with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Can work remotely as well as directly with customers; Fastly utilises Slack, Vivun, Zoom, Jira, GSuite, Confluence, GitHub and SFDC as well as a number of sales and marketing applications. All documentation is available from docs.fastly.com.
  • Keep up to date on and report on applicable new technology and technology-related trends.
  • Potential to specialise in one or more Fastly product lines, this includes Delivery (CDN, Streaming, On-the-fly packaging), Security (WAF, DDoS, TLS) and Compute@Edge.


What We're Looking For
  • Ideally 8+ Years of related experience in selling and supporting software products to technical customers and buyers in large sophisticated organizations.
  • Experience working for a vendor or systems integrator in a pre-sales capacity
  • Proven experience with TCP and HTTP as well as troubleshooting techniques (curl, tcpdump, etc.). Excellent understanding of DNS, experience with CDN or proxy solutions, and knowledge of load balancing technologies.
  • Understanding and experience with logging environments, experience with SIEM tools.
  • Work experience with more than one of the following and at a minimum familiarity with:
  • An understanding of core security concepts, including application and network security
  • Cloud computing (Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Services, Microsoft Azure) familiarity
  • Travel 25-40% mostly in Australia and New Zealand, some International travel required for global events.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, MIS or a comparable field is desirable
