Purpose of the Position


Studco Building Systems are leaders in manufacturing innovative metal building systems for the wall and ceiling construction industry. As the Product Development Coordinator you will be responsible for pushing development projects through the process engaging with the key stakeholders to maintain momentum.

Internally the Product Development Coordinator works closely with the Head of Innovation and Technical taking direction on priorities and deliverables. The ideal candidate is hard working, practical, a good communicator, professional and diligent and capable of managing a diverse workload in a fast-paced corporate manufacturing environment.


Key Effectiveness Areas and Responsibilities


Key Responsibilities:


Administration and Communication

  • Control flow of ideas through the Studco’s innovation process: feasibility, prototype, pilot and production
  • Manage all administrative tasks of the innovation process
  • Assist with preparation of business cases for submission to management team
  • Ensure internal and external stakeholders are kept informed throughout the development process

Research

  • Investigate feasibility of ideas with internal and external stakeholders
  • Research competitors’ products and existing patents
  • Gather customer feedback on designs via phone, email and face-to-face site visits

Practical

  • Construct sample building elements for review and testing
  • Conduct or assist with testing procedures for new products
  • Attend construction sites to view installations of products and systems

General Technical Team Support

  • Assist with the technical enquiries from customers when requested.
  • Assist customers and colleagues on site when needed.


General Duties


  • As a member of the Technical Team confidentiality is paramount. Understand and maintain confidentiality relating to all business activities, especially relating to technical details and customer/supplier details. Any breach of trust will be regarded seriously & addressed in an appropriate manner by the management team. Abide by the Studco confidentiality agreement as contained within the Studco Employee Handbook.
  • Be accountable for your time.
  • Understand and maintain correct protocols and standard operating procedures (SOP’s) when interacting with other team members, or customers and suppliers.
  • Be a team player. Work with the Studco Team for the good of the whole business.
  • Abide by communication protocol for all Studco Team members.
  • Email & phone calls must be responded to promptly.
  • Manage time in an effective manner, such that all tasks are done in specific and agreed time frames each day.


Selection Criteria


Preferred knowledge:

  • Some understanding of building and construction
  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering or equivalent highly desirable.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy in preparing and entering information.
  • Must have strong computer skills and knowledge of accounting and admin related systems.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of products.
  • Some experience in a manufacturing environment would be desirable.
