The Quality & Safety Manager Engineering (QSME) is responsible for the management of the RFDS Engineering Quality and Safety Management Systems and functions within the Part 145 AMO, AOC Airworthiness, and Risk & Assurance departments.

The QSME works with internal and external stakeholders to establish, implement, review and promote quality and safety continuous improvement systems and oversight the correct function of these systems and processes.

This QSME is a Full-Time position based in Brisbane.

Key Responsibilities

Key responsibilities of this role will include:
  • Perform the responsibilities of Quality and Safety Manager as described in the RFDS QLD Services CASR Part145 Maintenance Organisation Exposition and RFDS QLD Section Safety Management Manual and Maintenance Control Manual
  • Report matters of high risk within Airworthiness, Aircraft Maintenance and Engineering Quality and Safety
  • Plan and review engineering performance and compliance to Civil Aviation standards in Quality, Safety and Compliance and CASA Legislation
  • Plan and implementation an approved Engineering audit schedule
  • Investigate, report and resolve non-conformances identified through audit processes and occurrence/incident investigations
  • Ensure the RFDS service delivery is compliant with legislative and regulatory requirements
  • Lead and prepare the organisation for external accreditation against relevant applicable Australian and International Standards
  • Develop and Implement CASR1998 Part 42 and manage CASR Part 145 MOS Engineering Quality Management System

Who we are looking for?

To be successful in this role you will possess the following:
  • Formal Qualifications in Lead Auditing, Aviation Safety Investigation, Aviation and Safety Management and Quality Management
  • Demonstrated ability to provide high level advice and guidance to managers and leaders on Safety, Environment and Quality matters.
  • Meet the form 4 requirements of CASR 1998 Part 42 and CASR Part 145 for appointment as Quality and Safety Manager Engineering
  • Extensive aircraft maintenance or associated experience in a Part145 environment
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Regulations and Standards applicable to the continuing Airworthiness of Aircraft
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Aircraft Maintenance and Certification Regulatory requirements.
  • Strong understanding of CASA regulations
  • Proven ability to manage projects, coordinate resources and achieve outcomes
