About the role

Reporting to the Superintendent Production Planning, this role delivers value to the operation by overseeing the production of safe, well designed mine planning designs, enabling Cannington to meet all production targets safely. You will:

  • Ensure a high standard of development and stope design work by Mine Planning Engineers.
  • Provide guidance and coaching to Mine Planning Engineers technically and professionally.
  • Sustain mine planning design inventory through well considered resource management.
  • Liaise with the Geology and Geotechnical departments to ensure plans delivered are suitable for Cannington's prevailing geotechnical and geological environments.
  • Interface with the Mid-term planning team to ensure Key Value Drivers of mining sequences are all followed in all released work instructions.
  • Contribute to Cannington's safety culture through regular execution, design or procedural safety improvements.

Cannington mine provides resort style onsite accommodation with laundry and meal services, as well as sporting and gym facilities and is FIFO from Townsville or Brisbane.

About you

You're a good fit with this role if you have the following attributes:

  • Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering or Geotechnical Engineering.
  • 5+ years' experience in hard rock, underground operations - open stope mining methods is essential.
  • 2+ years in Underground Hard Rock Mine Planning.
  • Planning skills which leverage value and risk-based decision making.
  • Sound software skills, preferably with Deswik experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership capability.
