Business Need / Purpose of Role

To support the Weir Minerals hose business through providing effective customer / hose design support to both customers and the sales engineer network.

Key Responsibilities and Specific Accountabilities


* Maintain a methodical approach to hose design and adhere to the internal processes

* Be integral in supporting the hose business to achieve and exceed annual budgets

* Management of SAP system with regards to material master data, material BOM, TAC, and routing file. As well as maintaining and updating information in SAP.

* Ensure sales engineers within the hose business are adequately supported in developing new business and receive technical support as required. Support the hose business in achieving and exceeding end user budgets.

* Coordination/liaising between manufacturing, sales, product management and logistic teams.

* Preparation of TACs for all enquiries, creation of part numbers and creation and control of all rubber hose manufacturing specifications and drawings.

* Liaising with customer support with regards to part numbers and order processing.

Liaising with third party suppliers.
* Support the design and development of new products and assist in the evaluation and testing process.
* Management of drafting design requests (EDR) and preparation of drawings for fabrication.

* Develop drawings for new tooling and obtain cost.

Job knowledge / Other requirements

Education and/or Experience:
Qualifications in mechanical or engineering are desired, although relevant skills/experience in an appropriate field will be considered. Experience dealing with mining customers in remote locations. Previous sales experience preferably within the mineral processing industry

Language Skills:
Good understanding of the English language - additional languages may be of benefit. Ability to communicate effectively with customers via email and on the phone.

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry

Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills:
Basic to Intermediate Level - Microsoft suit of products
High level proficiency SAP knowledge.
Medium level in drawing programs

Physical Demands:
This position is an office role and therefore doesn't require heavy lifting

Work Environment:
Moderate (examples: business office with computers and printers, light traffic)
