WHS & QA Manager

DCT Group is currently seeking a Work Health Safety & Quality Assurance Manager to join our team.

About this position:

As the Work Health Safety & Quality Assurance Manager you will be responsible delivering the hands-on support for the DCT Group of companies and provide a practical approach to implementing and maintaining Work Health Safety and Compliance Systems.

This is a Darwin based position although there will be times where you will be required to travel to DCT’s remote projects.

  • Flights from Darwin provided to site on remote projects. 
  • Meals and Camp are provided on site on remote projects.

Duties:

  • Ensuring DCT Group always remains compliant with our NT Government contracts both Darwin based and remote.
  • Preparation and implementation of project control plans in line with DCT Group and NT Government requirements
  • Ensuring compliance with legislated safety and training requirements, and company and client safety and training standards.
  • Assisting the Tender Manager with Work Health Safety, Environmental and Quality Control requirements for our Tender Responses and submissions
  • Actively promoting a Zero Harm environment in line with company vision & core values
  • Coordinate’s safety programs to fulfill contractual obligations.
  • Maintaining relevant safety registers, including the DCT project’s training matrix.
  • Conduct monthly inspections & audits ensuring compliance to both company and client systems.
  • Facilitates training and inductions, both papers based and online.
  • Accident/Incident Investigation & Reporting.
  • Review & development of risk assessments.
  • Review and development of site-specific safe operating procedures.
  • Providing regular WHS statistical reports to the Senior DCT Group management teams.
  • Providing coaching, mentoring and technical guidance.
  • Ensure Records are maintained and compliant in line with WHS legislation.
  • Running daily prestart’ s with the Project Supervisor/Manager, employees and subcontractors onsite
  • Thorough understanding of OHS and environmental requirements. 
  • Direction and monitoring employees, subcontractors and suppliers
  • Maintain compliance with construction program and ensure project program is on or under time. 
  • Ensure clients expectations are being met or exceeded
  • Daily records of site activities 

Skills and qualifications: 

  • Relevant WHS Qualifications (Minimum Cert IV)
  • Cert IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116 upgrade) preferred
  • Drug and Alcohol Testing Qualification
  • Prior experience working on projects $5 million - $10 million-dollar civil or building projects highly regarded. 
  • Strong understanding of NT Government site & legislative WHS requirements
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar position within the civil or construction industry
  • Experience developing safety programs.
  • Client relations
  • Excellent verbal & non-verbal Communication Skills and work well within a team environment.
  • Ability to deliver a high standard of work is essential.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Be able to run your team and communicate with all levels of staff.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and autonomously.
  • Hold a Valid Australian Drivers Licence
  • Hold an industry white card.
  • Have a strong commitment to Safety.
  • Clean and Tidy presentation to represent our company well.
  • Good communication skills
