Snowy Hydro is a dynamic, integrated energy business that has been providing on-demand, reliable energy to Australia for over 70 years. Snowy Hydro owns and operates a powerful combination of generation assets, including the 4100 megawatt Snowy Mountains Scheme, gas and diesel plants and has recently contracted wind and solar energy. We also provide electricity and gas to more than 1.1 million retail customers through Red Energy and Lumo Energy.
Snowy 2.0 is the next chapter in the Snowy Scheme's history. The 2000 megawatt pumped-hydro expansion of the Snowy Scheme will link two existing dams, Tantangara and Talbingo, through a 27km underground tunnel and a new underground power station. It is the largest committed renewable energy project in Australia and it will underpin the nation's secure and stable transition to a low-carbon emissions future at the lowest cost for consumers.
An exciting opportunity exists within this project for a suitably qualified and experienced Lead Civil/Structural Engineer to lead the management of the structural design review and associated project tasks.
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, your key accountabilities will include;

Liaising with relevant stakeholders to remain informed of critical project issues that may influence the structural design

Review of design submissions

Preparation of technical reports to record project development issues, risks and opportunities

Represent Snowy Hydro in meetings with the Contractor and their designers to discuss and resolve issues related to structural design matters

Support the construction team with technical review and advice

In addition to the above, our ideal applicant will be able to demonstrate;

Minimum Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering

Minimum 15 years of relevant practical experience in the structural design of large reinforced concrete structures and large volume mass concrete structures

Hydropower project experience in structural analysis and design of underground civil structures

Experience in thermal analysis and design of large mass concrete pours

Familiarity with structural computational analysis software

Knowledge of Australian Standards and Guidelines for concrete and steel structures, and applicable Safe Work regulations in NSW

Strong stakeholder management and report writing skills
