This Senior Engineer position will offer the successful applicant the opportunity to learn and develop under the guidance of an approachable and empowering manager. The position incumbent will play a key role in our Maintenance and Operations Business Unit; providing sound technical and leadership advice to maintain our road network which encompasses a range of locations and varying conditions.

 

This role provides professional engineering advice and performs the asset custodian role including managing the delivery of the regions transport assets maintenance and operations.

 

Key responsibilities of this role include the following:

 

  • Project management and supervision of sealed and unsealed roads, footpath and drainage maintenance and operations works undertaken in accordance with Council’s Annual Capital Works Program and Council's Operational Plan.
  • Provide advice regarding maintenance and operating budgets for the development of long term financial plans and the annual budget and assist in the development of the ten (10) year capital program.
  • Maintain Council’s policies in relation to road, drainage and other transport infrastructure, and provide advice on potential improvement recommendations including providing specialist advice to the development and implementation of Council Policies, Procedures and Local Laws to other sections of Council.
  • Liaise and negotiate with property owners, government departments, service authorities and other external clients.
  • Manage Road Corridor related applications (including applications from the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator) for use of and or works within Council controlled road reserves.

 

The successful applicant will bring:

 

  • Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) – recognised by Engineers Australia.
  • Registered Professional Engineer Queensland (RPEQ), or ability to obtain within three months of appointment.
  • Traffic Management Design qualifications, or ability to obtain within three months of appointment and experience in developing Traffic Management plans.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing engineering technical staff.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of construction and maintenance of infrastructure in a local government environment.

Conditions of employment will be in accordance with Council’s Enterprise Bargaining Agreement with the remuneration being in the range of $99,243 - $111,763 per annum.
